air purifying plants

These common indoor plants are not only pretty, but also purify your household air. Certain indoor plants are truly “nature’s life support system”, as so coined by NASA, after discovering their detoxifying benefits and air quality perks.

These pretty air-purifying plants absorb particulates from the air as the plant takes in carbon dioxide. The harmful molecules are then converted into clean oxygen through the plants photosynthesis process while filtering out toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs are human-made chemicals that are used and produced in the manufacture of paints, pharmaceuticals, and refrigerants. Think carpet, stain-resistant furniture coatings and other household materials. Blah!

Here are a few noteworthy air-purifying plant favorites:

  1. English Ivy
  2. Gerber Daisy
  3. Aloe Vera
  4. Peace Lily
  5. Bamboo Palm
  6. Spider Plant
  7. Chinese Evergreen
