Raising Awareness of Breast Implant Toxicity
I am not an expert on this topic, however in the spirit of what #luvyourlungs is all about, knowledge is power and I’m honored to share with you all. It is thanks to many of you that this topic has come my way numerous times over the last few months. Your willingness to share your own stories with me, in hopes it will help the next woman, is brave, powerful and purposeful.
What I do know is that it’s affecting women of all ages, races, genetic backgrounds and locations….and much like cancer, it doesn’t discriminate. It could be happening to you or someone that you know and the more we share and cast a wider net of awareness, the more lives we can touch, and save.
The topic: Breast Implant Toxicity
And, specifically their toxicity levels that could be impacting women’s health, your health even.
The FDA has already started cluing into this idea of cause-and-effect and in the Fall of 2019, published “official” information about textured implants and their potential risks. It was on the Today show in case you missed it. Here is the link: https://www.today.com/health/fda-proposes-new-warning-about-breast-implants-t165531
But the scope of this goes much broader and deeper than just textured implants and I’m hoping that by sharing this information and these resources, you can dive into your own exploration and come to your own conclusions as to what’s best for you and your body. I’m not a doctor, and I’m not suggesting action by any means, I’m just hoping these facts rings true and they help someone, anyone, maybe even you.

Thank you so much for sharing! This is a topic that is not discussed enough due to lack of information and in some cases due to shame or fear of judgement. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), only in the U.S., there was an expenditure of $16 billion on cosmetic plastic surgery and minimally-invasive procedures in 2016. Patients trust that their medical devices are safe, but more and more are discovering that is far from the truth. There is a lot of money being made and the industry is not going down without a fight. Trust your gut and do your research, Ladies. ❤️
