“Have a little fun picking your head up, looking out into this beautiful world and taking note of what you see.”

For me, it was butterflies. I’ve always had a kindred love of these beautiful creatures, admired their magical transformation and have been fascinated by how an ominous looking caterpillar can turn into something to striking, and with wings to fly no less!

Months before my symptoms appeared, butterflies flocked to our house. The front yard, the back yard, bushes, trees, even sidewalks, and of all colors – blue, yellow, orange.  And this isn’t the norm! Usually we get a few here and there but this Spring they were everywhere! And naturally I noticed because I love them so much anyway.

Fast forward to my hospital stay, and initial diagnosis….guess what showed up at my window every single day? A butterfly! Perched on the glass of my hospital window….in the middle of Baltimore city….with not a plant or tree nearby. Hmm? So I looked it up, the spiritual meaning of a butterfly, and my mind is officially blown.

The butterfly is one of the most emblematic totem animals symbolizing personal transformation. If you see the butterfly as your totem or spirit animal, pay attention to the areas in your life or personality that are in need of profound change or transformation. Perhaps, this animal totem guides you to be sensitive to your personal cycles of expansion and growth, as well as the beauty of life’s continuous unfolding. An important message carried by the spirit of the butterfly is about the ability to go through important changes with grace and lightness. *SOURCE: https://www.spiritanimal.info/butterfly-spirit-animal/

And there’s more! From then on, all sorts of new and unique signs were presenting themselves.

A praying mantis swooped into our backyard at the mere minute I was stepping into the grass. I haven’t seen one of these in years and yet it was the biggest and most beautiful one I’d ever seen. And I saw one again the following week.  Spiritual meaning you ask? Get this….

Usually the Praying Mantis makes an appearance when we’ve flooded our lives with so much business, activity, or chaos that we can no longer hear the still small voice within us. Taking a step back and some simple meditation would be in order here because the external din we’ve created needs to be quieted so that we can come back to our own truth. She will  always come to us when we need peace, quiet and calm in our lives. SOURCE: https://www.spirit-animals.com/praying-mantis/

I can’t make this stuff up! I see a butterfly a day, no matter where I am or what I do. And I’m learning that these signs were in front of me all along, I just never Saw them (with a capital S). The universe shares these gifts with each of us all the time – they speak to us often, because we’re all here together on this planet, trying to live our best lives and feeding our souls. If we can unlock the mindset to see, experience and receive them, imagine how much more we could learn!

I also encourage you to have a little fun picking your head up, looking out into this beautiful world and taking note of what you see.
